  Be warned, no one at Akawatu will ever talk to you once your item has been delivered. So if the seller sent you a faulty item, you will be in limbo. In my case, the seller hid some major issue with a used board (bad repair on fin box making fins unaligned)…

  Really pleased with quality boards and shipping well ahead of lead time, about 4 days from France to UK. Primarily being able to shop a larger selection of boards than domestically meant I got what I wanted for a price I was happy with including shipping.

  Thought it felt like taking a gamble buying from abroad especially with couriers post-Brexit, but I was pleasantly surprised! The board arrived 5 days earlier than initially estimated and was really well packed. I got the board in the size I wanted which was unavailable in the UK for over £100 cheaper through Akewatu so I wouldn’t hesitate using them again.

  Site is slower than other pages on my laptop but not a problem. I was initially suspicious of this site, but I was so desperate for this particular board board I took a punt, and they are legit! Good overall. I already have four Spooked Kooks boards so I know they always come with fins, bag and key. The board arrived without these, and with Futures fins, which are not shown in the photo. I assumed some of the info on the page was incorrect so when the board arrived I had several email exchanges and we came to an amicable conclusion. The staff seemed committed to resolving the issue rather than muggin me off, which I was impressed with. I wanted clarity and accountability and they provided both in most cases, and that's good enough for me! Delivery is expensive but they're on the continent so thats fair enough. Board arrived well packaged and in perfect nick.

  Great experience, some anxiety about shipping to UK but needn't have worried. Site easy to navigate and arrived at local depot within 2 weeks. Regular shipping into and well packaged to protect board during transit. Would recommend.

  There were a few issues negotiating new Customs and Excise protocols due to BREXIT, but Akewatu staff did everything necessary in dealing with this. Surfboard arrived in perfect condition (carried by TNT) exactly as specified. Will definitely buy through Akewatu again as able to tap into wider marketplace outside of UK. Very happy.

  I was sceptical about purchasing a board from Europe, regarding trustworthiness of the website/supplier, damage during transit to the UK, price (due to the dreaded Brexit) etc. My initial order was rejected due to the required board being unavailable. However, some time later the Akewatu team emailed me indicating one had been found. The whole process was flawless; from the purchase (cheapest inc P&P), through to receiving it (double check the courier has the correct postal address...!). Packaging was excellent, and the actual boards surfs like a dream. Thoroughly recommended, very please all round. Thank you Akewatu 🏄🏻‍♂️

  The site was easy to use and the delivery was quick. However, when my board arrived the fin box was faulty right out of the box. It’s a month later and I have had no resolution from Akewatu. They have thus sold me a faulty board and offered me no compensation so I am less than impressed.

  Before akewatu I had a bad experience buying a board. I purchased my dream board from the soft board centre in Hossegor France due to absolutely no soft tops available in the U.K. till Easter . They took my money and I was getting super stoked. I checked a week later and only then did they notify me they couldn't ship it to the U.K. . Yeah! Totally bummed out. So I got on akewatu site and saw the exact same board. This also was from a surf shop in Hossegor, France only this place took the order, packed it and shipped it within a day through DHL. I double checked a couple of times with customer service just to make sure it was ok to be shipped. They replied quickly with 'yes, shop has packed and shipped, here is the tracking number. Received my Pyzel 7' soft top log in 10 days. Packaging was top notch, no dings, scratches or anything. Super stoked with the purchase. Although akewatu is just really a connection service and not it's own surf shop I believe they take the time to make sure all the vendors are legit and deliver a great service. Would definitely go through akewatu again.

  This is an online shop as far as I can gather. Via facebook their response was slow, and even though they tried, mainly unhelpful. However.. The response time and helpfulness factor via their site using email was fast, totally helpful, useful and decisive. I bought the perfect board for a great price and it was delivered realy fast inspite of covid and Xmas. Great company. Would do business again. NOTE, if you want a boardbag that fits your board, you have to keep on top of the communication. Ask twice via their site to make sure it will fit well before buying both items at the same time.   Ordered a 9ft NSP longboard through Akewatu (it was cheaper to pay the £55 shipping from France to the UK than buying the shorter "cheaper" version of the same board locally!). Finding and buying the board on the site was really easy - plenty of filters to narrow down to exactly what you want, and the checkout process was quick and straightforward. Shipping took just over a week (ordered late Sunday night, board arrived on Tuesday a week later), which is great considering the international shipping in the middle of global pandemic. Packed really well in "Flexi Hex" and then an outer box, so no damage at all to the board. Really happy with my purchase - I was a bit skeptical at first with ordering such a large and relatively fragile item internationally, but all my doubts were for nothing and I'd be more than happy to order from Akewatu again :)

  I purchased a JS Monsta Box, it was described as being in very good condition, second hand. It was virtually brand new. It didn't take that long to be sent from France to Jersey, that was during the height of Lockdown due to Covi-19. All in all very impressed with Akewatu, almost too good to be true the only trouble now is to try to stop looking for more amazing deals on their website. Its a game changer for me as we don't have the best choice of surfboards in the Jersey. I can but very nearly new if I dont feel like paying the full price on a brand new board so if it doesn't perform as well as I hope it's not such a bummer.
