I have ordered from Black Armoury and even left a review in the past. I highlighted customer service as the reason for my previous positive review, but I have recently tried a few newer products designed (at least in part) and sold by the company as well. I am continually impressed with the quality of these offerings; unlike many other companies, Black Armoury is not simply copying the most common gear options with their own logo; they continue to innovate and bring new, useful designs to the HEMA scene, and I hope they continue to succeed as they do so.

The shipment was late. Very late. I had no update on the situation, only that they have not yet recieved supply from their provider even though shop webside said this item was in stock. The order came in fairly good time. Packaging was appropriate and the product was received complete. However, and Allen Key was included in the order automatically and I could not remove it (I have them anyway). Also It is not useful for the provided product. So, a bit weird and a waste of money.

The Allen key is indeed included with all SWAP compatible swords, including the indoor trainer. It allows you to remove the pommel to change the blade, or in the very rare cases where it becomes loose. The key is therefore included, but not charged to the customer. Kind regards, Anthony

The site, range, ordering etc. were all excellent. Stock issues due to COVID delayed my order (a lot!) but that wasn't really Black Armoury's fault and as soon as the main item was in stock shipping was quick from France to Australia. My main concern was the time it took to get a response to questions about the order - I left several messages through the website before resorting to Facebook and email to get an update. Once I got my first response they were great, answering questions within 24 hours, but that initial lack of any indication that my query had been seen, let alone answered, wasn't very encouraging.

The package delayed five weeks to be sent and one week more to be delivered to me. Waiting for an update in the webpage about my order I tried to email them and raise a support ticket but silence is all I got for answer. For a month, and having paid some hundreds in advance. Also, they forgot to include part of my address, causing the messenger to skip my package to be delivered. At last but not least, please don't use SEUR.

Regarding the communication, I do apologise. Indeed, it seems that you were not included when we sent a messages to customers in April to inform them that SPES was delayed by a couple of weeks. The stock delivery package from them was lost and had to be replaced and resent to us, which took some time. I am very sorry for that bad communication. I will be sure to improve this. I assure you that we placed the out of stock jacket order to SPES on April 1, two days after you placed your order. Regarding the address : in looking at the delivery label created by Colissimo, I now see that your complete address was not included on the label. I have informed Colissimo about this error. Please understand that the labels are generated automatically by the postal system exactly as it exists your profile. It seems their system is not good for long adresses. Also, we unfortunately have no control over the transport partner Colissimo uses in different countries. If you wish to be sure that SEUR is not used, I recommend in the future to chose another shipper than Colissimo to Spain. There was a scare when collisimo said my package was on its way back it’s country of origin but 5 days later it was at my door. The weapons are tip top and somehow black armory was able to get them from Hungary to France and to me in the US. 100% awesome great. Would recommend. Don’t get worked up about customs. I recently ordered a custom Arcem jacket and a gorget. Because I needed custom, I contacted Black Armoury by email and was impressed with the speed and quality of the response. They got my order, clarified some points, suggested that I save on postage by putting the two separate orders together, gave me an accurate time for production and also agreed to cover any Brexit related tariffs, as I had ordered from the UK just before the end of the EU transition period, but before there was any detail of a possible trade deal, which was appreciated. They kept me up to date with the progress and the tracker item arrived today, as expected. It was just what I had asked for, a really nice quality product which fits well and has plenty of give to allow free movement, looks great and appears to be as tough as it should be. It even came with a nice hand written note of thanks for the order. All in all a pleasure. I wish it was possible to get a custom jacket quicker, but it has to be made to order, so I’m not upset with the lead time for manufacture and shipping. Very Happy!

One of the products, RedDragon gloves, had a not-critical manufacturing defect which was quite apparent so the gloves should not have been sent to the customer. On the CarbonGloves advertisement on their siite, I would propose to remove information that the gloves are suited for sword-and-buckler sparring since the protection is not adequate.

The information provided was extremely comprehensive regular but not to frequent. The swords are well made and worth every penny.
