  I found them after looking around for a certain paint at the cheapest cost. I found it or the cowling and wilcox website, and at the top of the website it stated that if you were to spend more than £50 via them, postage is free. After making a big order and waiting for a few days, they emailed me saying it weighed too much and for me to pay an extra fee for postage. It worked out that it cost me more than if I were to buy the same paint else were at normal price. I paid, then there was a delay, then I finally got the items. The box had been used multiple times before there were stickers and different tapes all over. When I opened it there were several sheets of this shredded cardboard which weighed a lot. That alone would have made the postage weight more.. They made me pay extra for this? At the same time I ordered from Cowling and Wilcox, I also ordered from CassArt. This actually allowed me to compared the two. CassArt I hade bought much much much more.. including a weighty wooden studio easel. I was never charged extra for postage, it arrived in a couple of days in three big boxes with all light packaging inside. It was my first time using both companies and I definitely know where I will buy from in future, and tell my students where to buy from.

I can only assure you that I believe your experience is unusual as you can see from our positive reviews but that makes it all the worse as it's dreadful you had so many issues with your order. I know financial gestures aren't always necessary as recognition of the issue often goes further but I've asked my customer service team to refund your surcharge and we'll send you a 10% discount code to use if you would consider using us again.   Guy you honestly did not have to give me any money back or discount. For me it actually meant more that you took time out to contact me. A lot of businesses could learn a few things from you. You could have easily got customer services to get in touch with me or just wrote an email etc. But you went out your way to contact me yourself and explained what happened. For me this means more than any offer or refund, to show to your customers on a personal level you care about us. I accept the reasons given and I accept on behalf the company the apology.   They were experiencing some problems with international shipping at the time that I ordered so their shipping was a touch slow. They took a lot of care to wrap my brushes up well so that they would not be damaged in shipping. Every brush had a plastic protector on it as well. The brushes arrived in perfect condition and I am very happy with them. prices are very fair IMO. I feel that C&W prices were very fair.

  Good quality products but rated poorly due to negative experience ordering online. I paid for next day delivery. Then got an email the next day requesting more money for shipping costs, which i begrudgingly paid. The products arrived 4 or 5 days after the order was placed. Very poor - surely the website can calculate shipping costs when the order is placed? I won’t be buying through this site ever again

Unfortunately, the goods you ordered were pretty heavy and as you wanted them sent to Northern Ireland we are restricted by a 2Kg maximum weight with Royal Mail. If they'd been within that limit we would have sent out immediately on a tracked Royal Mail Next Day service. I can assure you once we received your payment we sent your goods out on the fastest service we could to Northern Ireland for heavier items. I'm so sorry our carrier didn't get your parcel to you as quickly as we both would have expected. Kind regards, Guy.
