  Particularly through the lockdowns I have been grateful to be able to set up my oils and spend time painting. I like portrait and figures and when I need to replace any materials I have found Cowling and Wilcox very speedy at fulfilling my order and the oils are of high quality at a very reasonable cost....delivery is free when buying over a certain amount, too.

  I bought the two last canvas stretchers available online. When they arrived I was surprised to see I'd received literally just two stretchers so couldn't make a canvas - it is not made clear on the website that they are not sold as pairs like other renowned art supply brands sell. It's the first time I've come across this. I rang customer service and asked if they could please send me two more and waive the delivery fee as the website isn't clear. I was told no, I'd have to pay. Poor and disappointing customer service.

  Thanks for taking the time to review us. I'm so sorry you had a bad experience on our site with our stretcher pieces. We sell these in singles on both our site and in our shops as some customers want to buy these in singles due to damage or the like. I agree, though, that this is unusual and so to bring us in line with other Suppliers we'll start selling these in pairs. I'll ask our customer service team to send you out two more stretcher pieces free of charge and thank you for pointing this out to us.   The site is busy but easy to navigate. Impressed with their customer service as one of my items was not in stock when they came to pick it for delivery. They informed me straightaway and that it was due in later that day, so was I okay to wait an additional day for the rest of the items, which was fine. My items arrived exactly as expected on the revised date stated. Cannot fault the prices either.

  The delivery and customer service was good, I have no complaints there, but when I was trying to order the right size of brush, I found it really difficult to know I was ordering the right one because I'm new to painting, and the picture that came up made it look like in was ordering a bigger brush. The one I got was for very fine work when I wanted a medium to large wash brush.

  Found Cowling&Wilcox on line. Placed an order for Gesso. All very easy - no problems. Received email re delivery date. Gesso was delivered on the date - the litre of Gesso well packed. All in all and excellent service and I will use Cowling&Wilcox again.
