I used to buy more wine from ideal wine prior to Brexit. Then the paperwork, duty and hard logistics began so I reduced my purchases. This until Idealwine took it upon themselves to take the responsibility for settling all duty, paperwork...a stroke of genius which should restore their UK sales. As a wine provider, they have no equal for an amateur of collector of fine wines. Amazing selection, great platform, strong customer service where you can speak to people. A pleasure to deal with. iDealwine came up on an Internet search for some special wines for a special birthday. There is a five star selection of wines at this merchant, some of which are almost impossible to find in the UK. I was hesitant to order, due to very mixed feedback on a UK feedback site. However I decided to take a gamble, because it was a special birthday. After creating an account and selecting & adding 12 wines to my basket, I closed the page and was surprised to receive an email stating that the order was confirmed & asking for payment, or storage may be charged. This is not the way to encourage customers. However, I continued. The wine shipment to the UK took 23 days, so missed my birthday, which was a pity! I contacted Customer Services after 10 days, because there was no update on my account, and received a reply in a couple of days. I would be contacted when my shipment was handed over to FedEx. And so it was. In fact from receiving that initial order confirmed e mail, I counted 18 subsequent emails up to delivery. The wines were very well packed and as ordered. Customs duties are payable when importing into the UK from the EU but can be paid with the order in advance now. If the website was less "aggressive" in confirming an order when only a basket had been filled, and if there was more information on a customer account as the order was processed, this would have been a five star experience. The bottom line is that the wine selection at iDealwine is hard to match. I will be enjoying a belated celebration with this wine when the family gets together next time!

An excellent site for wines, especially those hard to find here in The States. Relatively east to navigate on the site. Prices were more than fair. When shipped, the wines were well packed and insulated. The only reason I took a star out was shipping costs. Long after I had paid over $130 dollars for shipping, FedEx sent an invoice for an additional $44, which pushed shipping costs above $175. I'm sure this extra charge is hidden in some fine print, but I wish it was communicated more clearly upon purchase.

The UX (user experience) is not great on the site. When you add your products to what seems to be a basket you are actually bidding on them which appears to give you an obligation to pay within 14 days or be charged a holding fee. This could be much more clearly communicated then it is. I also ordered my wine to the UK which it seems is liable for import taxes which again was not made clear during the order process and makes the cost of the wine much higher then i was expecting. When ordering online i expect the journey to provide this information so it is clear of my total cost when purchasing. I happen to work in the digital UX space so I am usually not easily caught out by these situations but if i am its because the experience is usually very confusing/unclear and is probably costing iDealwine repeat customers/revenue.

I've just given you free UX advice and im an expert in the industry when it comes to UX experimentation. It seems your response is to tell me im wrong which seems odd and egotistical.
